Bournemouth vs. Luton: Match Of The Season?

Safe to say, you never quite know when or where you’ll get the game of the season. Last night’s face-off between Bournemouth and Luton Town has become a major contender to be just that, after a dramatic game from start to finish! Luton Town, looking to get themselves out of the relegation zone having dropped in after Everton’s points deduction was reduced, faced Bournemouth sitting just below the middle of the table. This match was a rescheduled fixture, however. In December, Luton’s captain, Tom Lockyer, suffered a cardiac arrest on... Read More

A Tight Fight In League One!

The top of the table looks very interesting in the third division of English football right now! Every point clearly counts in the final stretch of the season – the top three currently have 9 games to go, with Portsmouth leading the way on 77 points, 5 clear of 2nd place Derby County, with Bolton a further point behind in 3rd. The table then shows Peterborough and Barnsley a handful behind on 68 and 67 points respectively; however they still have an extra game to play – meaning there’s the... Read More

Everton’s Point Deduction Appeal: Are They Out Of Trouble?

Earlier this week, Everton saw their 10 point deduction for a breach of the Profit & Sustainability Rules reduced down to 6, meaning the club jumped from 17th in the Premier League (with 21 points) up to 15th (with 25 points). With that being said, does it mean the club can breathe a bit more safely now? In reality… no. Earlier in the season you could’ve argued Everton’s performances would’ve seen them safe even if the full 10 points had stood. The club prior to the deduction were actually around... Read More

Premier League Title Fight: The Closest In Years

We’re heading into the final stretch of this year’s Premier League, and it’s still looking incredibly close at the top. After last night’s 4-1 win over Luton, Liverpool currently see themselves 4 points clear of nearest rivals Manchester City, and a further point ahead of Arsenal. However, the current leaders have played one game more – so it is possible to see those gaps close to just 1 and 2 points respectively. Since the formation of the Premier League in 1992, there have been three seasons in which the top... Read More

A Trio Of Departures: Managerial Changes In One Day

Yesterday saw not one, not two, but three clubs change their manager – all for different reasons. The most high profile was at Crystal Palace – in fact, just mere hours before their 1-1 draw with Everton, it was announced that Roy Hodgson would step down as manager of the club. Last week had seen rumours of Hodgson potentially being sacked for recent results – after yesterday’s game they find themselves in 15th place, just 5 points above relegation – however that same day he was taken to the hospital... Goals Galore: Mansfield vs. Harrogate

It’s not often you can talk about an eleven-goal thriller in football, but that’s exactly what happened in League Two this past Tuesday. In a quite simply absurd match, Mansfield somehow managed to take a incredible 9-2 victory over Harrogate – but look in to the story further and it becomes even more incredible. Yes, Mansfield are in the chase for the League Two title – with them winning and leaders Stockport losing, the gap at the top closed to just one point. Harrogate, however, are most certainly not in... Read More

Quick Start: New Premier League Record Set Last Night

Make sure you’re ready for the game ahead of kick-off, because you never know what you might miss… Last night saw a new Premier League record set, when two different games saw a goal scored within the first 20 seconds on the same day! It’s safe to say Luton Town and Sheffield United haven’t had the easiest of starts to the Premier League season since being promoted; however they definitely started in style during last night’s games against Brighton and Crystal Palace respectively! Sheffield United didn’t even allow Crystal Palace... Read More

Going Out On Top: Klopp Leaving Liverpool

On Friday, Jurgen Klopp dropped a bombshell announcement when he said he was leaving Liverpool at the end of this season. Klopp joined the club as manager in October 2015, replacing Brendan Rodgers. After a few years building up his team, he was able to guide Liverpool to a number of trophies – including almost all major honours. Among the considerable success Klopp brought to the Merseyside team, possibly the most important to the fans was finally winning the Premier League in the 2019/20 season. It was the first under...
