Going Out On Top: Klopp Leaving Liverpool
On Friday, Jurgen Klopp dropped a bombshell announcement when he said he was leaving Liverpool at the end of this season.
Klopp joined the club as manager in October 2015, replacing Brendan Rodgers. After a few years building up his team, he was able to guide Liverpool to a number of trophies – including almost all major honours.
Among the considerable success Klopp brought to the Merseyside team, possibly the most important to the fans was finally winning the Premier League in the 2019/20 season. It was the first under the top division’s current guise and their first overall in three decades – something once considered unimaginable, such was their dominance on the English game in the past.
A Champions League, FA Cup, EFL Cup, Club World Cup, Super Cup and Community Shield are also all part of the cabinet at Anfield courtesy of Klopp, and his announcement comes with Liverpool sitting atop the Premier League currently.
Can he leave at the end of the season with one (or more) trophies for the club? One thing’s for sure – over the near-decade he’s been at Anfield, he’s earned his reputation as a Liverpool legend.
