Bournemouth vs. Luton: Match Of The Season?

Safe to say, you never quite know when or where you’ll get the game of the season. Last night’s face-off between Bournemouth and Luton Town has become a major contender to be just that, after a dramatic game from start to finish!

Luton Town, looking to get themselves out of the relegation zone having dropped in after Everton’s points deduction was reduced, faced Bournemouth sitting just below the middle of the table.

This match was a rescheduled fixture, however. In December, Luton’s captain, Tom Lockyer, suffered a cardiac arrest on the pitch, prompting the postponement of their game against Bournemouth. Prior to the game he had an emotional reunion with the paramedics that saved his life.

The script was turned on its head quickly – Luton pulled out an incredible 3-0 lead in the first half, leaving the stands of the Cherries fans stunned with astonishment and roars of defiance, as Bournemouth supporters urged their team to mount a comeback that seemed implausible.

Having been sent back out to the pitch very quickly after a short half time talk, the second half was a spectacle of tenacity, strategy, and a touch of footballing magic from Bournemouth. The Cherries rose from the ashes of the first half and delivered an inspired performance that yielded four unanswered goals. Their majestic rally was nothing short of miraculous, leaving Luton reeling as the final whistle confirmed Bournemouth’s win, delivering a knockout blow in Luton’s relegation battle, as the Hatters head towards their next match against fellow strugglers Nottingham Forest.
