#LCFCParade – My Return to Leicester

Here’s a rare blog for PunkFootball where I’ll be talking of my own personal experience. The Social Media Manager, as an individual. I was given the opportunity from work to go to Leicester this past Monday, celebrating the Foxes’ fairytale Premier League title success – having gone to De Montfort University from 2009-2012, it was a chance to once again visit my “home from home”… but unlike any other time I’d been before. Having lived in the city for the aforementioned years, Leicester is a busy place. Obviously not to... Read More

The Old Guards Gunning For The Top Once Again

This topsy-turvy season has seen Leicester City sitting at the top of the Premiership (and still are there now), having been dead last for a considerable length last year; Tottenham Hotspur put in possibly their best ever season in the Premier League to date… but right behind them sits an old guard. A team that knows how to do it, on more than one occasion, and wants to spoil both fairytale stories of those ahead. Except they too have an urge to get the job done. Arsenal, three-time Premier League winners (along with... Read More

Tottenham Hotspur: Dark Horses?

We’ve discussed many a time as to how Leicester have turned the Premier League upside-down… but there’s another side that have almost sneakily climbed up the table to really put themselves in to contention: Tottenham Hotspur. Almost without going noticed, Spurs have got themselves in to 2nd in the table: they’re just two points off of Leicester, and with the best goal advantage of any team in the league are ahead of their rivals Arsenal to boot. All three teams will be desperate for the title, though – to put it... Read More

The Day Belief Grew Stronger: The Impossible Dream… Possible?

It’s a subject we’ve covered twice this season, but both times in the early days – Leicester City. After a month, we thought it was amusing they were in the top 5 having spent a heavy part of last season at the bottom of the Premier League table. Then, we briefly discussed if the impossible dream could happen, but we still didn’t think it would happen. But now, with 13 games to go, they’re not just “still there”. The Foxes sit top of the table. Five points clear (from Tottenham... Read More

Guardiola: The Hottest Free Agent Is Snapped Up…

It was a battle that top teams wanted: Chelsea were looking for a new permanent manager after firing Jose Mourinho back in December, and questions still linger over Manchester United‘s current manager Louis Van Gaal. In the end, they lost out to Manchester City, who announced that current Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola will be joining the Sky Blues for the 2016/17 season – outing current manager Manuel Pellegrini, whose contract runs out at the end of this season. As a player, Guardiola was a defensive midfielder who played 378 league games for a number of teams, but... Read More

Record-Breaking Game? Premier League’s Top Two Clash!

When you read this, you didn’t expect us to say the Premier League leaders are Leicester, did you? We had an earlier blog talking about Leicester’s impressive run – but now nearly a third of the way through the season, the Foxes are still up there – in fact, above anyone else! They’ve only lost 2 of their last 22 league games (since April of last season), to Chelsea and Arsenal – consistency which sees them quite deservedly up there. Fittingly enough (for reasons we’ll explain shortly), they take on... Read More

The Only Way Is… Jose?

Another weekend gone, another loss for Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea. Eleven games in to the season and the blues are currently holding the unfortunate record of the worst Premier League title defense since the league started under its current guise over 20 years ago. While even at this point you can’t see it happening, rumblings of “has anyone ever won the title and been relegated the next season?” have been brewing. Well, there is an answer: It’s only ever happened once, when Manchester City won their first ever league title in... Read More

Flourishing Foxes – Leicester’s Impressive Run

Before the beginning of the season, you probably didn’t expect the top royal blue team to be Leicester after 5 games, did you? It’s only a mere few months ago where, with 9 games to go, Leicester were bottom of the Premier League having won just 4 games all season. Then, on April 4th, the fifth win of the season came for the Foxes after beating West Ham 2-1. Following on were victories against West Brom and Swansea City which finally lifted Leicester from the bottom and up to 18th,... Read More

The Giants of English Football Square Off

This Saturday, England’s two most successful clubs square off in the Premier League – Manchester United and Liverpool. Manchester United have won the title in the top tier of the English League 20 times, more than any other club – and was a record previously held by their rivals Liverpool, who have 18 league titles. Despite still being 2nd on the list, Liverpool haven’t won the title since the 1989-90 season (and thus, haven’t yet won a “Premier League” title as the top tier was named after the club’s most...
