Record-Breaking Game? Premier League’s Top Two Clash!

When you read this, you didn’t expect us to say the Premier League leaders are Leicester, did you?

We had an earlier blog talking about Leicester’s impressive run – but now nearly a third of the way through the season, the Foxes are still up there – in fact, above anyone else! They’ve only lost 2 of their last 22 league games (since April of last season), to Chelsea and Arsenal – consistency which sees them quite deservedly up there.

Fittingly enough (for reasons we’ll explain shortly), they take on 2nd place Manchester United. Last year’s match at the King Power Stadium was quite the goal fest – the blues taking a 5-3 win over the Red Devils, but the question about goals heading in to this game is quite simply, will Jamie Vardy find the net?

If he does, he’ll have scored in eleven consecutive Premier League games – which will break a record which he currently joint-holds with Manchester United legend Ruud van Nistelrooy, who managed 10 consecutive games in 2003 – so of all teams that he could break the record against…!

This could be quite the pivotal game for the Foxes – just where exactly could they be challenging in the table come May? One would expect them to not be fighting for the crown, but if they can beat United yet again on home ground – could it be that maybe an impossible dream could be on? Looking at the names that have beaten Leicester since their turn of form early this year, it’s been two title-fighting teams – so if they can get over the hurdle of the big team games, who knows where they could be…?
