EURO 2024: 100 Days To Go!

We’re just 100 days away from the next major International tournament!

In the men’s game, with Covid pushing the previous Euros back a year and the last World Cup being held in the winter, it’s still taken to some getting used to that these tournaments have been happening every year-and-a-half (or so), but here comes the next one – Euro 2024 is just 100 days away, marking the first men’s tournament that’s taking place at a more traditional time since the 2018 World Cup!

Last time out, to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the competition, the tournament was held across eleven different cities in eleven different countries. Despite this, England had the benefit of only playing a single game away from their home ground of Wembley Stadium, when they defeated Ukraine 4-0 in the Quarter Finals.

It was the competition that also marked only the second time the senior men’s England team made an international tournament final, when they faced Italy for the Euro 2020 trophy. Despite taking a very early lead in the final, Italy would equalise in the second half, and the Three Lions would ultimately come up short in a penalty shootout.

This time, the tournament takes place in Germany – a country that, alongside Spain, have won the trophy more times than anyone else (three times). England find themselves in Group C, facing Serbia on June 16th, Denmark on 20th June and then Slovenia on 25th June.

The question is, now with this team having recently tasted an international final, can England go one step further and finally win the Euros for the first time – matching the achievement of the women’s team back in 2022?
