The New League Season Is Almost Here!
It hardly feels like a few moments ago since Chelsea prized the Premiership title away from Manchester for the first time since 2010, and yet we’re now less than a week away from the new season kicking it all off again.
As mentioned earlier, Chelsea are defending their Premier League Title against 19 more challengers – of which Bournemouth make their first ever appearance, plus the return of Watford and Norwich to the top tier will make this season, pretty much like every year, a nail-biter from top to bottom.
Manchester United will look to improve under a second season of Louis van Gaal after their 4th place finish last year (much improved from 7th the season before, but still marks their second-worst year since the Premier League began), and with Arsenal on a roll following their 1-0 win in the Community Shield against Champions Chelsea, the red side of London will also be desperately grasping for the title that’s eluded them for over 10 years now. Always in the mix too will be the ever-present Liverpool and last season’s runners-up Manchester City.

PunkFootball has products for all 92 league clubs, including the 20 Premier League teams – featuring the likes of newcomers Bournemouth.
For the bottom half, the biggest question will be how do Bournemouth cope for their first ever season in the top flight? Having been promoted alongside previous Premier League contenders Watford and Norwich who have the experience, the battle will be on. Perhaps they’ll be fighting the likes of Leicester City, who pulled off the Great Escape after being bottom of the table with only a handful of games to go until a succession of wins meant they amazingly secured safety with a game in hand – but will the post-season fallout with the controversy, plus Nigel Pearson‘s sacking, cause all that good work to become undone?
And all of that is just the Premiership alone.
There’s still all the other league games in the Championship, League One and League Two also; plus the non-league matches, your local games – THEN there’s all the International matches, leagues… alright everyone, I think it’s time to take our seats on the sofa. There’s a LOT of football for us to get ready for. Who’s got the popcorn ready?
