• The single from New Order (called "England New Order" for this track) came about after the FA's Press Officer at the time, David Bloomfield, contacted the band's manager to create a song for the 1990 World Cup. Without hesitation New Order agreed, and were joined by some of the England squad themselves to record it (although most avoided as they didn't want to be involved).
• The most infamous section is John Barnes' improvised rap - which is still loved (laughed at?) decades later. He and Craig Johnston wrote it down on some scrap paper before he delivered it.
• Barnes has also performed the rap on many other occasions, including on an episode of Russel Howard's Good News in 2011, and while as a contestant on Celebrity Big Brother and on a Strictly Come Dancing Sport Relief special in 2018.
